Wadi Al Fann Presents: Unveiling Ground breaking Artworks
In AlUla, the Valley of the Arts transforms into an open-air museum, blending nature and contemporary art. Five monumental works are set to last for hundreds of years, offering a rare preview of artistic mastery. Visitors will navigate through tunnels and stairways, experiencing the glow of shifting hues against the canyon floor.
At AlUla Arts Festival 2025, James Turrell, a legendary light and space artist, will unveil his permanent landmark installation. Curated by Michael Govan, CEO of LACMA, this exhibit offers a deep dive into the interplay of color, perception, and space. The network of chambers carved into the desert reflects his 50-year exploration of geometry, astrology, and shadow.

The exhibition showcases the work of Manal AlDowayan, Agnes Denes, Michael Heizer, and Ahmed Mater, each using the desert as a canvas for themes of time, philosophy, and natural beauty. Inspired by Alhazen, the scientist who theorized how the brain and eyes perceive images, these installations challenge perception through optical illusions and an above-ground mirage.
A global art map is being drawn in AlUla, where contemporary art engages with history in ways the world has never seen before. Nora Aldabal, Director of Arts and Creative Industries, leads this initiative, turning the dramatic sandstone formations into a backdrop for immersive creativity.
From the crisp desert air to 75 km of hiking trails, this space removes cars and distractions, allowing the sky, land, and light to become one. The experience is unlike anywhere else on Earth, offering a hypnotic journey into the fundamental building blocks of the universe.
