Mira Mikati, a Lebanese designer, began her fashion career in 2007 as the co-founder and buyer for PLUM, a contemporary concept store in Beirut, Lebanon. I still remember visiting that store; it was unlike anything else in the city—vibrant, fresh, and full of curiosity. Five years later, this upcoming designer was asked to design a limited collection for Façonnable, which turned into a big sell-out success.
As a buyer, she always wished to find pieces that were fun, beautifully tailored, and full of energy. That exciting project encouraged Mira to start her eponymous label. Today, the London-based designer counts numerous stars like Beyoncé, Adele, and Frieda Pinto as loyal fans, each drawn to her optimistic brand.
Her label is known for a mix of fun, emoji-style detailing with elegant, grown-up silhouettes. What makes it special is how it stays connected to the art world something I’ve personally admired. Over the years, the designer has collaborated with numerous artists, including big names like Takashi Murakami, Yoshitomo Nara, Darcel, and KAWS.
The collaboration with KAWS for the SS’16 collection was especially personal for Mira. She once collected KAWS’ toys, even staying up all night to buy a rare edition online—proof of her passion for her favourite artists in the world. For her, collaborating with them was truly a dream come true.
In her gallery above, you can spot the latest Spring Summer 2018 collection, which captures her joyful spirit perfectly. It’s a reminder that in fashion, personal passion often shapes the most memorable work.
