Discover Luke and Lucie Meier’s Revolutionary Fashion Vision
Luke and Lucie Meier brought a deeply thoughtful and quietly powerful vision to Jil Sander as co-creative directors, shaping a new era of abstracted and precise minimalism. Their journey came to an end after seven impactful years, marked by the Autumn-Winter 2025 final show on 26 February in Milan.
This Milan-based couple had first met in 2001 as students at Polimoda in Florence, eventually married, and then united professionally at the house of Jil Sander. Their work was known for its crafted, almost androgyny-leaning feel that honored the brand’s highly influential codes.
They led with dedication, energy, and passion, guiding the brand through a fresh iteration while remaining true to its romantic and luxury origins. Their leadership followed the tenure of Rodolfo Paglialunga, and they joined the board during a period of renewed direction.
The Meiers helped drive a 17.3 per cent year-on-year sales increase in 2023, though the company did not break out full figures for 2024. The OTB Group, which acquired Jil Sander in April 2021, acknowledged the couple’s efforts with a heartfelt statement.
Renzo Rosso, chairman of OTB Group, praised their excellence and called them “brilliant creative minds,” while also thanking them for their materially engaging and emotionally resonant project. Their work was nothing short of accomplished.
They offered heartfelt gratitude to their teams, giving special thanks to the wonderful people who helped bring their ideas to life. The designers said they were proud of the craft and vision they helped create together.
No successor has been officially named yet, but the industry is watching closely. The couple’s departure left a notable gap in a brand that’s been shaped by many figures, from its eponymous founder to Raf Simons, and even a Dior captain.
Jil Sander, which started as a store in Hamburg in 1968, has seen many returns, splits, and rebirths. But what Luke and Lucie Meier gave it—stability, liberating design, and a deeply spirited presence—feels like one of its most defining occasions.
